Radio transmit is permanently disabled on the UHW503. It has DECT7 wireless technology, full-duplex crew communication and 24dB NRR hearing protection, and it will not transmit on the radio at any position.
505 or 503+
The 503 lists at $945, the same as the 505. Choose the 503 for positions that should not transmit on the radio, and the 505 or 507 for positions that should.

Product overview
Radio transmit is permanently disabled on this rugged, weatherproof wireless headset. DECT7 wireless technology delivers improved sound quality in the apparatus and on the fire scene, and extended range and coverage let you communicate clearly with crew members up to 1,000 feet from the apparatus.
Auto-On activates the headset on removal of the charging cable. An automatic noise gate provides set-and-forget ease of use for seamless transitions between high- and low-noise situations, and a new ergonomic design delivers enhanced comfort and wearability. Like every 500-Series wireless headset, it has 24dB NRR hearing protection and an all-day, 24-hour battery.
Firecom lists a direct-wire two-way radio connection for the UHW503.V2, but not Stereo Listen-Through. For radio transmit and Stereo Listen-Through, see the 505 models or the 507 Bluetooth models. The headsets connect through a WB505R.V2 Wireless Base Station.

The 503 uses the same DECT7 platform as the rest of the 500-Series, with radio transmit permanently disabled.
Radio transmit disabled
Unlike the 505 and 507 models, radio transmit is permanently disabled. Intercom-Only headsets will not transmit on the radio at any position.
Direct-Wire Two-Way-Radio
Firecom lists a direct-wire two-way radio connection for the UHW503. PR interface cables (sold separately) connect portable radios, and EFES confirms the right cable for your radio on the quote.
Hearing protection (24dB NRR)
Firecom 500-Series Wireless Headsets have a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 24dB, which meets NFPA, OSHA, and Cal/OSHA standards.
